16th ScSB Meeting in Røros, Norway, 21-24 March, 2023

Welcome to ScSB 2023 at Røros Hotell, located in the historic small town of Røros in the middle of the snowy hills of Norway. Røros is an old copper mining town near Trondheim and its historic old town centre is listed as UNESCO world heritage site.
The scientific programme for ScSB 2023 will be loosely based on bioinspiration in biomaterials. We will explore the various ways in which we biomaterial scientists mimic nature to understand fundamental cell-material interactions and develop biomaterial based therapies.
We will of course not forget the importance of networking and socialising with our fellow Nordic and international scientists in a relaxed setting. One of the main aims of this meeting is to create an environment for students and young investigators to interact with more experienced scientists and to create a better dialogue between them. Time will also be reserved for after lunch social activities during the conference to ensure that both our bodies and minds will be kept in focus for the future challenges in biomaterials.
We look forward to meeting you in Røros!

We have received over 90 abstracts for ScSB 2023. We were overwhelmed with the very high scientific quality of the submitted abstracts and diversity of topics that cover the entire field of biomaterials. We are looking forward to interesting discussions following contributed oral presentations and during the poster sessions at ScSB 2023!
Conference abstracts will be published online in a supplement edition of the open access journal European Cells and Materials and will also be available in the conference abstract booklet.
